Lifecare Pregnancy Center
The Lifecare Pregnancy Center provides resources, referrals, and lay counseling to women and families with young children. Clients are treated with kindness, compassion and in a caring manner and receive accurate information about pregnancy, fetal development, lifestyle issues and related concerns.
In March of 2020, Lifecare fell under state Covid-19 regulations and had to essentially shut down direct, in-house support to clients. Virtual education and counseling and contactless material pick-ups continued; however, contact with many vulnerable clients was lost. Covid also cancelled fundraising events for three years.
In May 2023, Governor Walz decided the State of Minnesota would no longer support the protection of innocent fetal life. The Governor, along with the MN Senate and House, ended funding for the Positive Alternatives Grant effective June 30, 2023, a program on which Lifecare was heavily dependent for materials and supplies.
Four days after losing grant funding, the Lifecare facility experienced major water damage with loss of material supplies, ultrasound machine, and the building structure itself. Immediate relocation was needed.
Lifecare is currently operating on a very short-term budget that is unsustainable without additional financial support.
